PAUL ADAMSON, FAIA, LEED AP; Treasurer

An architect, writer, preservation advocate and educator, Paul is a founding member of docomomo_noca, the Northern California working party of the DoCoMoMo, International. He has successfully advocated for recognition of mid-century modern architecture in California, and was instrumental in the naming of two Eichler subdivisions to the National Register of Historic Places. Paul currently serves on the Board for the Center for Architecture & Design, in San Francisco and co-chairs the Housing Knowledge Community at the AIA San Francisco Chapter. He moderated a session on the Building Decarbonization Practice Guide at the 2023 AIA Conference in San Francisco.

STEVE GUTTMANN, PE, LEED FELLOW, BEAP; President

Steve brings more than two decades of leadership in sustainable design, energy conservation, and integrated building design for healthcare, higher education, commercial, and civic projects. He served on the LEED for Healthcare Committee since its formation and served as its chair until the LEED for Healthcare rating system was adopted by the USGBC membership in 2011. Since 1991, he has served as a Principal of Guttmann & Blaevoet, a consulting engineering firm in California that has received national and regional ASHRAE awards for innovation in sustainable design.

AVERY KINTNER

Avery brings over thirty years of financial expertise to the Board along with a passion for community service. After earning a Business degree with an Accounting Emphasis from Southern Methodist University he became a Certified Public Accountant. Avery’s special certifications include Green Building Professional and Sustainable Accounting Standards Board (SASB) FSA-Level 1. He appreciates staying active by swimming and practicing yoga. Avery’s ability to think strategically and willingness to collaborate make him a valuable addition to the team while his experience in risk management keeps us prepared for the future.

CANDICE KOLLAR, LEED AP; Secretary

As Founder and Principal of Kollar EcoCreative®, an award-winning boutique creative agency, Candice led creative teams providing branding and design services to green building product and service companies. A long-time industry volunteer, she served on USGBC Communications and Sustainable Neighborhoods Committees, participated in the Green Building Mentor program, as well as International Living Future Institute (ILFI) local host committees. Pre-pandemic, she enjoyed extolling the virtues of SF’s greenest high rise developments while leading Green Building Walking Tours.

HEIDI LUBIN

Ms. Lubin is a real estate developer and renewable energy entrepreneur focused on affordable, sustainable multifamily housing that addresses the related challenges of climate change and housing affordability. She also recently completed the first municipal bond financing in the U.S. for co-living and for all-electric development. Previously, she successfully commercialized varied products from utility data access software to modular building micro-grids and energy-efficient electric motors.  In her spare time, she is an avid outdoor-lover and a certified yoga and alpine skiing instructor. 

KYLE PICKETT, Vice President, Co-Founder

Kyle is the Foundations’s Co-founder and Vice-President of the Board. He lectures on resource stewardship strategy for the built environment at UC Berkeley, Stanford, and other schools. Previously, as Director, Leadership and Market Development for New Buildings Institute, his responsibilities included oversight of the Getting to Zero Forum, a conference collaboration with Rocky Mountain Institute. Until August 2020, Kyle served as Urban Fabrick’s Co-founder and COO and was responsible for the consultancy’s West Coast operations. His leadership established the firm as an influential community partner reputable for inclusive technical training and successful sustainability projects.

ALICE SUNG, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, ISSP-SA

As founding Principal of Greenbank Associates, a green building/sustainability consultancy dedicated to reducing carbon emissions, maximizing climate action through the building/energy sector, Alice has facilitated the greening of many local buildings. An advocate for decarbonization and creating zero-carbon K-14 public school districts, her current work explores leverage points and strategic partnerships to center equity, while reaching global climate justice goals. Alice is a Climate Reality Leader, an NBI “Zero Net Energy Leadership, Individual Awardee,” a 2020 U.S. Grassroots Accelerator for Women Environmental Leader and a contributing author to the Water Reuse Practice Guide.

JEFFREY TILL, AIA, LEED AP

Jeffrey Till is an architect and Principal at Design Studio Till. He has more than twenty-five years of architectural and master planning experience in North America, Asia, and Europe. He leads design on a range of projects for public and private clients with high level sustainability goals, with a focus on a research driven, multidisciplinary process and performance strategies. Jeff has previously served as Design Principal at Perkins + Will and as Design Director, Global Leader in Sustainability for Woods Bagot. He has taught sustainable design at Stanford, presented publicly at Greenbuild and AIA National Conferences and served on the Board of Directors at AIA San Francisco and SPUR.
