An architect, writer, preservation advocate and educator, Paul is a founding member of docomomo_noca, the Northern California working party of the DoCoMoMo, International. He has successfully advocated for recognition of mid-century modern architecture in California, and was instrumental in the naming of two Eichler subdivisions to the National Register of Historic Places. Paul currently serves on the Board for the Center for Architecture & Design, in San Francisco and co-chairs the Housing Knowledge Community at the AIA San Francisco Chapter. JENNIFER ASSELSTINE, AIA, NOMA; Secretary
Jennifer was the first Director of the Undergraduate Architecture program at the Academy of Art University where she created a hands-on, design-focused community of students and educators. She developed the Climate, Sustainability and Building Systems curricula, co-teaching with Bill Worthen and collaborating with a cadre of engineers and architects. Her global experience has included opportunities to live and work in London, Malaysia and Australia. Motivated by her passion for equity in the built environment, Jennifer has participated in the Pathways to Equity design leadership program. She is the Chairperson for the San Anselmo Planning Commission and envisions a sustainable future with housing for all. Hafsa has successfully managed a diverse portfolio of projects, ranging from aviation, healthcare facilities, and educational institutions to housing and commercial developments. Throughout her career, and as founder and design director at hb+A Architects, she constantly prioritizes environmental responsibility and occupant well-being by integrating cutting-edge sustainability practices, low-carbon design, and a deep focus on indoor air quality into her projects. A leading advocate for sustainable policy development for over 18 years, her white papers and activism have helped shape critical green building standards, including emerging policy frameworks for CalGreen. Burt’s accolades include ENR’s "20 Under 40" award for construction professionals in California, the American Institute of Architects' Young Architects Honor Award, Pioneer Award for Leadership from Sustainable Facilities’ Forum and Innovation in Design Awards from Fast Company and the German Design Council. Characterized by an earnest desire to understand and attempt just about everything, Indu is a “creative generalist” in the best sense of the phrase: with hands-on experience with a wide range of arts and processes, she is passionate about seeking joy and beauty in the world. This pursuit has helped cultivate her perspective that there are many ways of being and a multitude of right answers. Her experiences push her to be more judicious and responsible in her use of resources, and to communicate with more empathy. As Chair of the Executive Committee on Climate Action at RMW, sustainability is of paramount importance in her work. Yash is a founder of InWhyZone Coaching Consulting. She serves leaders in AEC, Tech and seed funded companies across a range of industries. Her coaching and consulting work is informed by more than fifteen years in operations, strategy and people management in large architectural design firms in the Bay Area. Prior to her current role as a coach, she led multi-layered teams of designers, engineers, contractors and stakeholders delivering sustainable buildings for premier science and technology organizations in the Bay Area and Asia. She is passionate about mitigating the impacts of climate change and its toll on the next generation through outreach and education in the AEC industry. Roshini is an award-winning sustainability professional who brings over eighteen years of experience in environmental strategy, emissions reduction, and resource conservation. Her work across diverse sectors, including government, utilities and global corporations, reflects her deep technical expertise and a strategic understanding of the challenges and opportunities within sustainability and regulatory compliance. As Associate Director at Guidehouse Inc., she leads multi-disciplinary consulting engagements that help global clients design and implement impactful sustainability strategies. Previously, Roshini managed the City of Sacramento Utilities’ sustainability and water conservation programs, where she championed the first Carbon Neutrality policy for the water utility, aligned and enhanced the city’s climate adaptation strategies with complex utility priorities, and was recognized with awards from the EPA and the Alliance for Water Efficiency. In collaboration with the Climate Registry and the California EPA, she developed the Water-Energy Nexus registry and championed the creation of Sacramento’s Water Conservation Ordinance, a key regulatory measure that set new standards for sustainable water use. She holds an MBA from the UC Berkeley, and a BA in Architecture from the College of Engineering, Trivandrum, India. ISMAR ENRIQUEZ, AIA, LFA, LEED AP
Ismar brings an inspired vision to his work at the crossroads of sustainability, equity, housing, and education. With nearly two decades of expertise, he is dedicated to addressing the housing and climate crises by fostering socially inclusive, equitable, and sustainable communities. In addition to his work as Project Manager and Project Architect at Southern California architecture studio, Practice, Ismar is a Long Beach Community Development Commissioner, sits on the AIA LA Board of Directors, and advocates for transformative community initiatives, such as the 2×8 Student Scholarship and Exhibition. Formerly, as chair of the AIA LA Committee on the Environment, he organized the renowned AIA LA COTE 1.5 Degree Celsius Symposium, bringing together global leaders in sustainability. BARRY HOOPER, Sr. Green Building Coordinator, San Francisco Department of the Environment
Barry Hooper serves San Francisco’s Environment Department as Senior Green Building Coordinator. He manages the Existing Buildings Energy Ordinance, which motivates improved energy efficiency in commercial and multifamily buildings through energy benchmarking and disclosure, requires commercial buildings prepare an actionable plan for improvement, and obtain 100% renewable electricity. Barry also leads the development of and supports implementation of San Francisco’s Green Building Code which advances energy, water, material, and air quality improvement in local construction projects. He represents San Francisco in the Bay Area Regional Energy Network Codes & Standards Program, the C40 Cities Private Buildings Decarbonization Network, and Bay Area Air Quality Management District appliance rules Implementation Working Group. BRETT ROSENBERG, LEED AP BD+C
Based in Missoula, Montana, Brett Rosenberg serves as ESG Compliance Manager for Cushman & Wakefield, where his primary role involves helping clients achieve green building certification and regulatory compliance goals. Prior to his present role, Brett served as the project manager for both the Worthen Foundation's well-regarded Building Decarbonization Practice Guide and the award-winning Onsite Non-Potable Water Practice Guide. Before relocating to Missoula from Washington, DC, his roles included Director, Sustainable Practice at the American Institute of Architects and Director of Technical Assistance, Best Practices, and Research for the US Conference of Mayors' Climate Protection Center. Brett has a BA in environmental science and an MS in environmental policy. Brett has proudly watched his two kids become superior skiers and mountain bikers than he is (although he's still a better fisherman!). ALICE SUNG, AIA, LEED AP BD+C, ISSP-SA; Vice President
Alice is a trained Climate Reality Leader, NBI Zero Net Energy Leadership Individual Awardee, and 2020 U.S. Grassroots Accelerator for Women Environmental Leader. As founding Principal of Greenbank Associates, a green building/sustainability and resilience consultancy, Alice is dedicated to climate and environmental justice. Alice has facilitated the greening of many local buildings, from the highest rated CHPS Leader school to LEED Platinum community buildings, always prioritizing equity and social justice as the key strategy to reducing carbon emissions and maximizing climate action impact through the building/energy sector at pace and scale. She advocates for equitable decarbonization and creating zero-carbon K-14 public school districts and, in her work, she explores leverage points and strategic partnerships to center equity while reaching global, national, state and local goals by 2030. Alice is a contributing author to the Worthen Foundation’s Onsite Non-potable Water Reuse Practice Guide and a lead content author for The Building Decarbonization Practice Guide. She has been a conference speaker on a wide variety of sustainability topics for over 25 years, has served as a Fellow in the first National cohort of the Environmental Justice Movement Fellowship at The New School, as well as the second National cohort of the Culture for Health Leadership Institute for Racial Healing, a program initiative of the National Collaborative for Health Equity. Alice consistently seeks to bridge the technical green building movement with environmental justice communities of concern in order to heal the hierarchy of human value and achieve climate justice.
JEFFREY TILL, AIA, LEED AP; President
Jeff is an architect and urban designer, and Principal at Arcadis, where he works to drive towards zero carbon development projects across a range of scales. He has more than thirty years of architectural and master planning experience in North America, Asia, and Europe across a range of project types. He leads design teams on projects for public and private clients with high level sustainability goals, with a focus on a research driven, multidisciplinary process and performance strategies. Jeff has previously served as Design Principal at Perkins + Will and as Design Director, Global Leader Sustainability for Woods Bagot. He has taught sustainable design at Stanford, presented publicly at Greenbuild and AIA National Conferences and served on the Board of Directors at AIA San Francisco and SPUR.
